This Week At Unity: Rev. Sickler, Potluck Lunch & Board Meeting!!!
This Sunday, March 18, 2017, Rev. Diane Sickler will be with us again. Her topic for this week is the Law of Nonresistance. We, as human beings, seem to be wired to fight back, to resist evil with more force than was given. Jesus taught us to resist not evil… how does this work in our modern world? Join us Sunday as we investigate this topic.
Following the service, feel free to join us for lunch, and stay for the meeting! Bring a dish to share if you’d like, though it isn’t required. There’s always plenty of food. The board meeting will follow lunch. We will be meeting for lunch in the fellowship hall so come and be a part of what’s happening with Unity in the Southern Tier. Your input is always welcome!

OUR SERVICE TIME HAS CHANGED!!!
By popular demand, the board of UnityIST decided to change the start time of our Sunday service, effective March 4, 2018, from 11:30 to 11:45!!
Members felt they were missing out on fellowship time with the other congregations at FCC since their services often ran over and fellowship didn’t get started until 11:15. Delaying our start time will allow everyone to enjoy fellowship from 11:15-11:45. Our services in the Eden room will begin at 11:45.
Upcoming Speakers for March
March 11-Rev. Art Suggs
(Second Sunday Fellowship Hosting)
March 18-Rev. Diane Sickler
(Potluck Lunch & Board Meeting)
March 25-Rick Gridley
Affirm with us:
God’s rich substance is now stored in our minds and being made manifest in Unity in the Southern Tier, and we rejoice in its abundance.
We believe that all people are created with sacred worth. Therefore we recognize the importance of serving all people within the Unity family in spiritually and emotionally caring ways. We strive to reach out to all who seek Unity support and spiritual growth. Our spiritual community is free of discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, age, creed, national origin, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
The Courage To Imagine
The 2018 Unity yearly theme is The Courage to Imagine. It is through the power of imagination that we can transform our lives. Whatever outcome we envision, we can achieve. Using this gift, we can release limiting thoughts and realize our divine potential.
The 5 Basic Principles of Unity Teachings
Unity encourages you to explore and apply Unity teachings based on your own spiritual understanding. We believe this spiritual understanding is enhanced through reflective prayer and meditation. The five basic ideas that make up the Unity belief system are: 1) God is the source and creator of all. There is no other enduring power. God is good and present everywhere. 2) We are spiritual beings, created in God’s image. The spirit of God lives within each person; therefore, all people are inherently good. 3) We create our life experiences through our way of thinking. 4) There is power in affirmative prayer, which we believe increases our connection to God. 5) Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live them.
Our Unity Prayer Request Box
We encourage you to make a list of all of your prayer concerns for both yourself and others, and to put it in the prayer request box either before or after the service on Sundays. Prayer requests will be sent on to Silent Unity where they will also be prayed about every day for 30 days. Feel free to bring a new prayer list every Sunday.
Rev. Diane Sickler will be with us again this coming Sunday. There are no ice storms expected so she is looking forward to sharing with us a lesson on Faith and Healing. Her topic is “Your Faith Has Made You Well”. How do we focus our faith on the healing instead of the illness? How do we realize that “with God ALL things are possible” is not just a statement, but a reality. Let us increase our faith together this Sunday.
